The tremendous support we have had with Phase 2 of our ‘Let the Stones Live’ Appeal has resulted in a total transformation of the East elevation Vestry window and wall and we hope you have had a chance to admire the stonemasons’ skill in this repair and restoration.
We are very fortunate that we are also able to repair some of the severely damaged stonework at the South Porch entrance to the church which had become a real worry. Of course the church is not able to repair everything needed at this time but we feel pleased that we can tackle (while the contractors are on site) some of the most pressing Health and Safety concerns for all those attending worship services and using the church building in so many diverse ways.
Very special thanks go to all the contributors to our Appeal and to the architects, Donald Insall Associates and our contractors, Midland Conservation Limited for their skill and support in making these essential repairs.
Of course, there are still some areas of concern but we are most pleased to feel that the threat of rainwater erosion to the interior of St George’s has been reduced significantly.
We shall carry on with the work of protecting the integrity of this beautiful historic church and welcome your continued support and prayers.
