St George's church is a unique and beautiful space in the heart of the city. Its gothic grandeur and ornament, as well as its acoustics and comfortable facilities, make it ideal for music, drama and performance as well as community use. Additionally in 2021, the building benefitted from a £75,000 complete relighting scheme.

We are open to hire enquiries, and offer discounts for charitable and community use.

As well as providing a weekly place of worship for the United Methodist Church and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, we can provide meeting places for non-religious groups. 

 

St George's features a spacious open area at the front of the nave which enables the church to be used for a variety of occasions and has the capacity to seat a chamber orchestra.  It is an attractive venue for staging concerts and other events and lends itself acoustically to performances of chamber music.

If the church itself is too large and you simply want a small space for meetings or social gatherings, do consider our attached Whitmore Room.  This community room has a fully equipped modern kitchen which is available as part of any rental, ideal for parties or smaller events
