At St George’s we are part of a lively local community made up of many different interwoven components – schools, universities, residential communities of older people and students for example, offices, charities, peoples’ homes, leisure and sporting facilities, shops and the physical environment itself. People are also moving through and around the locality 24-7.
One of our key aims as a church is to play our part in building relationships and bringing people together within this diverse setting. In 2012 we put on our first St George’s Day Picnic for members of the public in celebration of our Patron Saint and in recognition of the importance of St George’s Day as “a day of celebration for everyone who is making England their home”. It has become an annual event, and we are keen for people form all backgrounds and communities who live, work or come into Edgbaston to participate and feel welcome.
