St George’s ‘Junior Church’ is for children under the age of 8 years. It is held every third Sunday during the 10.30am service for fun, friendship, Bible stories, songs, Bible craft activities. During the remaining Sundays, parents are encouraged to help their child participate in less structured activities. Children receive a warm welcome and can explore Christianity, follow scripture and experience a range of sessions that will support their spiritual growth in a caring environment.
It is staffed by a caring team of volunteers who want to make sure that children enjoy themselves, learn and also have a chance to encounter God. They are all DBS checked and offer a wealth of knowledge and life experience – many of us either have had, or currently have young families and understand the importance of being part of God’s family and the need for parents to worship, whilst their children receive age appropriate ministry.
The children go to their activities in the Whitmore Room, off the main church nave, during the second hymn. We return during the sharing of the Peace and try and present a 'show and tell' to the congregation which is much appreciated. We encourage children to come forward for a blessing during Communion. This helps them to become familiar with the worship in church.
We hold a Crib service on Christmas Eve and a special children's Good Friday service.
Older children are encouraged to help in the Church service.
At designated times during the year St George’s has All Age Worship services, where children join the congregation and their families and worship together; we offer the congregation interactive activities, which the children embrace fully!
A Junior Church Magazine is published regularly and distributed during All Age services.

“I like Junior Church because I like showing people what I have learned about Jesus, I can tell them on the microphone, and I really like seeing my church friends and having chocolate biscuits!” Charlotte, 5
