Please find the latest version attached. Lorraine has given a further update on Ryan and Cey’s cycling journey: Ryan and Cey crossed into Northern Greece last Thursday after taking the ferry to Igoumenitsa which meant they had a day's rest! They set off again on Friday but the route was a little slower and challenging as that part of Greece is quite mountainous. They travelled eastwards towards Thessanaliki, arriving there on Sunday and then on to Kavala taking them closer to the Turkish border. Today they crossed into Turkey and are presently in Tekirdag - ever closer to Istanbul where I believe they will take a break! Please continue to pray for them in this gruelling challenge that they face. For those wishing to donate click here.
Below is a message from Lorraine Graham, longstanding church member and Chair of Governors at our CofE Primary School:
Rachael and Ryan McKinlay got married at St George's church in 2016 and both their children Logan and Joshua were christened here becoming part of the St George's family. On Saturday 23rd September, Ryan along with a fellow work colleague Ceyhun set off on a 2500 miles charity cycling challenge to Cyprus.
In 2016 Ceyhun and his wife lost their only daughter Tanyel to a rare form of bone cancer at the young age of 20. She had been diagnosed weeks after her 18th birthday. The family setup the teenage cancer charity Tanyel's smile in her memory. The cycle started at Elham cemetery in London where she is buried and aims to reach north Cyprus where she enjoyed her summer holidays with her family. Through doing so in line with September teenage cancer month they aim to raise awareness and provide support to teenagers with cancer in Cyprus.
Please pray for them in this gruelling challenge that they face in the month ahead. For those wishing to donate click here.
